Enjoy your $8 per week windfall.
As you slowly count those 800 delicious pennies and agonize over what to do with your good fortune, ponder the figures provided in the attached article. This is what Congress is up to: read it and weep!
I agree with Mr Eastwood, not that I would ever disagree, or anything.
I am well aware of my limitations, as indeed, a man should be. Clint says that PC madness has made society "humourless". Although, I suspect he said "humorless", but it's a British newspaper report.

Obama and Presidential responsibility
I have mentioned before that Obambi loves to run around spreading gloom and despondency, far more than the situation deserves. Along comes Dick Morris to state concisely, in writing, what I have been thinking. I'll leave it to Mr Morris.
Arizona Republic continues its decline...
In an article in today's Arizona Repugnant, it reports that "experts" are calling Sheriff Joe's 287g program a failure. It distorts Joe's efforts with the customary rhetoric that he goes after "traffic violators and day laborers." They do get caught up in the sweeps, they are illegal after all, but so do many other criminal aliens with assorted warrants for other more serious crimes. It's all good. In the article they describe the study as being done by,

Apparently you can't get there from here.
It seems that Obambi's promise that those earning under $250k per year will not see any increase in their taxes, might have hit a small bump in the road. Even if you took all the earnings of the people in the higher tax bracket, who are supposed to bear the brunt of his budgetary madness for the good of all, it still wouldn't begin to cover the costs. Read more at the TaxProf, and let's face it, if he doesn't have the complete skinny, who does? He's a professor, for Pete's sake!
More good news on illegal immigration.
And when I say "good news" I mean that they are about to try to give away the store again. It seems that Tom Perez, a Latino advocate, and when I say "Latino advocate" I mean he is a La Raza loving, open borders, La Reconquista, let them all become citizens, kind of guy, is the top choice to head up Us Citizen and Immigration Services.
No longer will criminal aliens have to lurk in the shadows. This administration plans to give them a key to the front door. The one thing Americans agree on, to the tune of 70%-80%, is that granting citizenship to all is undesirable. Remember the furor of 2007, which was the last time Congress tried to ram this down our throats? At this time, it is economically impossible to let them all in, but be wary of some kind of stealth bill in the future. Let your representatives know that we will not stand for it.
Read more about Tom Perez here.

The Gnomes are nervous. I'm curious.
The Justice Dept, as part of an ongoing tax evasion investigation, is seeking a list of names of clients from Swiss banking giant UBS. Wealthy Americans are therefore suing the bank to prevent said disclosure.
What would you give to get that list? Seriously, how many upstanding Congresscritters will be caught with their hands in that cookie jar? If there is a God in heaven, pretty please!

Jimmy Napolitano sad, very sad.
Homeland Security Secretary Jimmy Napolitano is not pleased. It seems some agents under her purview actually initiated a raid on a workplace that was choc-full of illegal aliens, and criminal gang members, to boot.
“She was not happy about it because it’s inconsistent with her position, and the president’s position on these matters,”
How about your position is inconsistent with the law of the country? Believe me, when we suffered under her governorship here in Arizona, it was painfully obvious that she favored open borders. Everything she ever did to pretend otherwise was mere window dressing. Do not be fooled by its boyish charm. See more here.

The Charlatan is back, and this time, he's delusional.
As I reported a while back, Fat Al the fake reverend is back to his race-mongering ways. Today, he tells Murdoch, of the New York Post "apology not accepted". Guess what Al, he specifically did not apologize to you. It is not yours, therefore, to not accept. Read here.
You know what would be really nice? If President Obama, the alleged post-racism, uniter of the country, would come out and simply say, "I can see where some folks might mis-interpret this, but it really is not racist, so let's move on." Not going to happen, but a boy can dream, can't he?

US invented Auto? Krauts go nuts. Poland on full alert.
In last night's snooze fest, The Fresh Prez of Bill Ayers, aka Obama, asserted that the United States invented the Automobile. Unfortunately, there are a few dead Germans, the preferred variety, that beg to differ. Henry Ford made cars more affordable by inventing the production-line technique. He also raised workers pay to such a level that they could afford to buy a car. but, he did not invent them.
It would be nice to think that at least one of Barry's speech writers would have known that-if not The One himself.

I think it means he hasn't been caught yet.
The New York Times reports on Obambi's latest, and in fact third, attempt to fill the position of Commerce Secretary. The current pick is Gary Locke, who they describe thusly,
brings something new: an international focus, centrist pragmatism, strong skills in public policy and a largely scandal-free résumé.
Well, isn't that special? Largely? Is that how low the bar is now. Read all about it here.

Obama addresses a joint session of Congress

Obama was embarrassed today as he misunderstood the concept of a joint session. After, hurriedly stashing his rolling papers, he attempted to recover.
"Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah," he opened confidently, to a standing ovation. Continuing in a similar vein, he stated, "Rhubarb, rhubarb, rhubarb, change, rhubarb, blah, blah, blah." Of course, at that point, the crowd erupted with applause, and it was several moments before he could continue with his diatribe.
"Hope, change, hopiness and changiness abound, blah, blah, as the oceans begin to fall, we are the blah, blah, blah we have been waiting for. I will halve the deficit I have just quintupled as easily as I quit smoking, for I am The One. Blah, blah, blah, for the childrens, and their childrens childrens, that hope to change...
I'm sorry, at that point I blacked out. Can I even say that any more? Anyone who can endure such meaningless drivel deserves a bailout. Hell, I'll pay your mortgage. But still, the MSM fawns. The speech was hailed as "pivotal" by the hacks at the AP. Write this down and remember it. The Media, such as it was, in its last dying gasp, gave us this man. They anointed him, and therefore are blindly invested in his success. But when the tide begins to turn, and it surely will, it is going to get very ugly. I'm predicting around September. Stock up on popcorn, it's going to be an interesting ride.
As Confucious said, "May you live in interesting times."
Best President evah! According to impartial White House source.
Today, a high ranking White House staffer, declared that The One had accomplished more in his first 30 days than almost any President ever. Most of it achieved behind closed doors, and without the public scrutiny he vowed would be a foundation of his presidency. Remember, the "sunlight before signing" bumper sticker promise? How very January 09 of you.
This hot on the heels of Terry Moran, shouldn't that "a" be an "o", in his gushing interview Friday where he asserts that becoming Pres was a "step down" for Obambi. Because being a junior senator for 147 days before announcing for the nation's highest office is way more important!

It's easy to vow to cut the deficit in half, especially if at first you quadruple it.
Democrat math and reasoning at its finest. The Messiah said that he will demonstrate "fiscal responsibility", yet the latest spending bill has more lard than Michael Moore's ass, the day after Thanksgiving. The Dems are truly drunk on power.
Maybe, I'm beibg too harsh. I mean, what's 9000 earmarks between friends?
Maybe, I'm beibg too harsh. I mean, what's 9000 earmarks between friends?
Thank God he didn't buy a mansion...

As mentioned yesterday, Chris Dodd [Scumbag-Conn] is in a little bit of hot water for, among many other things, his ownership of, and financing for, his cottage in Ireland. Just to clarify, here is a photo of the [cough] cottage [cough].
Also, on Friday he opened his festering gob and out spewed some nonsense regarding nationalization of the banks that had no basis in fact. It was so out of line, that the White House had to issue a retraction. Too late though, the market had already reacted and lopped millions of dollars from share prices. The Peter Principle at work. Makes you proud, doesn't it?

Even gooder news.
Also, today we learned that the ridiculous case of The Flying Imams against US Air has been dismissed. Read more here.
Good news, for a change.
As mentioned previously, Arizona rancher Roger Barnett was sued for defending his ranch from illegal alien trespassers. FOR $32MILLION. Well, the good news is he won, no thanks to the bottom feeders at MALDEF. Read the good news here.
The Rev. Al Charlatan strikes again.

The Rev Al. Sharpton, apparently unaware that a black man [partially, at least] has been elected to the White House, continues to inject race into every possible occurrence. Now that it is impossible to argue that their is any kind of ceiling on achievement by black folks exists, it is now necessary to try to find racial slurs when there are none. Who better to tie it to than the President in Training, Obama. Miffed by last year's New York Post article on the Rev's tax woes, he is now calling for an FCC investigation of Newscorp, because of the above cartoon.
Obama did not write the bill. It is an obvious reference to the old canard that if you let a thousand monkeys type they would eventually come up with a classic piece of literature. Directed at Congress who crafted, but did not read, the so-called stimulus. Obvious, but not to The Rev. and his crew of shakedown artists. Read here.
Sharpton should have gone away and stayed away a long time ago. I blame idiots like Bill O'Reilly for giving him airtime to extend his 15 minutes. That dullard O'Reilly works on the premise that anyone who is "brave" enough to face the big man himself, is a "stand-up guy". That self-perpetuating myth is what makes Bill so tiresome to watch.
Want to find out the real skinny on the fake Rev? Read this.
Chris Dodd antics further revealed.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, there have been rumors swirling around regarding the purchase by Chris Dodd [D-Conn] of a cottage in Ireland. It turns out that Hud funds were not used to purchase the home, but the deal still reeks of impropriety. Apparently, the home was purchased with a partner, seemingly through a third party, to create an "arms length" illusion. Later, Dodd was able to garner a pardon from outgoing Pres. Clinton, like that was difficult, for said partner. Coincidentally, Dodd was then able to purchase his partner's interest at a suspiciously low rate. This transaction has been declared, as required by Ethics regulations, but only in the broadest of terms. This is one of those occasions where, even if it is all above board [and I doubt it], the impression of graft can not be denied. Congress truly are a rotten bunch.
As usual, I would expect a whole bunch of re-filing of disclosures to correct the "oversight" as this seems to be the MO for weaselly congresscritters to extricate themselves from wrongdoing. They do it, because they get away with it.
The Hartford Courant has been on top of this story from the beginning, so read the whole thing here.

ACORN thuggery
On Friday, a story broke describing how ACORN took a house back in what was described as "civil disobedience" in order to "show" those evil banks. In fact, it was a simple case of breaking and entering. The amazing part was that the so-called media was there, aiding and abetting, as the vandalism unfolded. [Don't you just love criminals that are so stupid that they video themselves committing the crime?]
Remember, this is the same ACORN that Obama gave $800,000 to during his campaign so that they might register more voters, dead or alive. The same ACORN that has been provided with $2-$4B in the so-called stimulus package to "help" destitute neighborhoods. Or as I like to call it, buy the next election for Obambi. The same ACORN that is being investigated for voter registration fraud.
It turns out that the woman who "re-claimed" her home had been given ample opportunity to work with the bank, sometimes in a court ordered arrangement. Also, the loan on which she defaulted was a cash out re-finance. So, where did the money go? Michelle Malkin has all the facts here. Read it and weep.
Notice how a fawning media merely takes dictation and accepts everything it is told as true. As is becoming the norm, it takes an enterprising blogger to ask the probing questions and get to the truth.

Crisis, what crisis?
While Obambi and Democrats careen around the countryside screaming of catastrophe, although in reality it is merely a depression, we are being told it is important for us all to feel some pain for the greater good. Why? Here is an article from the New York Post that demonstrates that the so called national crisis is in fact a very limited regional problem. There are 5 states that are in trouble from a housing standpoint. All of them would have exhibited a fairly shallow appreciation curve, as is normal in most other states, but for an investor fueled blip that escalated as quickly as it declined.
One out of 76 homes in Nevada went into foreclosure in January, for example, compared with one out of 173 in California, with Arizona and Florida close behind. In New York, by contrast, only 1 out of 2,271 homes went into foreclosure.
Nationwide, foreclosures fell 10% in January, to one out of every 466 homes. But that is a "mean" average dominated by places like California and Florida. In the median state with the 25th highest foreclosure rate, by contrast, only one out of 949 homes was in foreclosure - just one-tenth of 1%. Foreclosure rates were even lower in 25 other states. In Vermont, foreclosures amounted to just one out of 51,906 homes. Foreclosure can be a personal crisis, but it is not a national crisis.
Full disclosure. I live in Arizona. However, I put down more than 60% when I purchased my home. I do not need, nor condone, any kind of real estate bailout. Recent sales figures have shown that as prices fall, driven by the increase in foreclosures, so buyers emerge to snap them up. Surprise, that is exactly how free markets operate.
Please read the whole article here, and spread the word.

and we're back...
Obama had the temerity to say this,
Yesterday in his weekly radio and Internet address, Obama said he is determined to "get exploding deficits under control" and said his budget request is "sober in its assessments, honest in its accounting, and lays out in detail my strategy for investing in what we need, cutting what we don't, and restoring fiscal discipline."
Reducing the deficit, he said, is critical: "We can't generate sustained growth without getting our deficits under control."
That would be the deficit you are responsible for, and are currently cheer-leading for, I suppose. The One is often criticized, quite rightly, for his inability to speak off the cuff. Without the Teleprompter he is incoherent. He surely cannot actually believe the stuff he is spouting, can he? Does he actually believe he is being fiscally disciplined? Or does he just blindly read what is put in front of him? Do we really have President Obama Burgundy in the White House?

Obama rated highest in...
...broken promises per week category. The good folks over at Sweetness and Light have put together a comprehensive list of Obambi's fib-fest, thus far. Impressive, seeing that he has been Liar-in- Chief for less than a month.
Watch this clip. Commit it to memory. Long on audacity, short on hope, zero change, just business as usual. He knows he will not be held accountable by the fawning media, and it emboldens him.

Another Obama lie.
As mentioned previously, Obambi promised there will be "sunshine before signing", so that we, the people, could examine a bill before he signed it into law. Well, here we go again! He will sign the "stimulus" bill on Monday, less than 3 days after our congress-nits voted for it. Way to go, Obambi. Apart from our own domestic concerns, what kind of message does this send to our allies, and enemies, abroad regarding his inability to keep a promise? Read more here.

Vladimir Putin said what.
Comrade Putin says we should be real careful about the road we are doomed to take because of our nit-wit congress-critters. As we await the final vote on the "stimulus' bill, from which we will not recover in my lifetime, please read his words of wisdom. He knows. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt, bought the DVD.
That is all.
That is all.

From our reporter on the scene, George Orwell
I know it seems like we are living in a topsy-turvy world these days. It is hard to believe that Obambi could chastise us, insisting that we live within our means for the sake of the childrens, with a straight face. I'm starting to worry about this kid. Do they just make him read this stuff off the Teleprompter? Does he know how ridiculous he sounds. Gadzooks!
Oh no, he didn't...
Yes, he did. Seems there was a little misunderstanding in the creating new jobs from the the stimulus package dept. Obambi steps on a rake, again. Read it here.
Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered.
A timely admonition for San Fran Nan and Dingy Harry. In the stimulus bill soon to be rammed down our throats, there is absolutely no pork, so says the Liar-in Chief, Obambi. Here are two examples of that invisible other white meat; one is $50m for Pelosi to save a rodent, I kid you not, the other is an $8B rail project to benefit those down on their luck, paycheck to paycheck living casino owners in Las Vegas.

Judd Gregg rebuffs The Messiah
It appears that Judd Gregg will be staying in the senate after all. Seems his distaste for the porkfest played a big part in his decision to turn down the job as Commerce secretary. I have to say that the decision to remove the census from his control probably also had something to do with it, and rightly so. I believe he abstained in the last vote on the stimulus, so the new vote, when it comes, could be interesting. Hopefully ,for Obambi, it will be an egg meet face moment. A boy can dream ,can't he?

Phoenix emulates Avis
As an Arizona resident I was extremely proud to discover that Phoenix is number 2 in the world. Until I found out that it was in the area of kidnapping. Unfortunately, it is a well known dirty secret around these parts, and unlikely to receive much interest for what passes as a newspaper here, The Arizona Republic. This is what happens when you elect a pea-brained mayor like Phil Gordon whose policies have created a sanctuary city, something he vehemently denies, despite all evidence to the contrary. The man uses the [non] word "irregardless", for heaven's sake.
Couple that with the fact that our former Gov. Jimmy Napolitano is now head of the roost at the Dept. of Homeland Security, and it will give you a taste of what is to come. More open borders insanity.
Ed Morrissey over at Hot Air has more. I would like to reiterate his excellent point. Is there a more worthy, or more "shovel ready" project than the border fence?. Yet, nary a mention in the biggest porkfest in the history of the USA. It's a disgrace!

Nanny state in the UK strikes again.
Just when you think the ridiculous antics of that once proud nation, Great Britain, can no longer surprise you, along comes this tale of bureaucracy gone mad. It seems the local authorities were over- zealous when they erroneously took 3 children from a couple and the kids were subsequently adopted. Now that the authorities have admitted that they screwed up, a judge has ruled that it is not in the best interests of the children to return them to their parents. It beggars belief. Welcome to our future, if the Dems have their way.
Happy days are here again.

If this handy-dandy chart is to be believed, we are already out of the woods, in the clear, on the home straight- you get the picture. From close perusal, it seems that as soon as Gubmint acts to help a recession/depression it is retroactively cured.
I see no reason to delay the stimulus package a day longer!
Just a thought.
I was just cleaning out my birdcage, when I noticed a letter to the editor in The Arizona Republic-don't worry, I don't buy it, my neighbor gives it to me. Anyhoo, it was the usual Libtard complaint against Sens. McCain and Kyl. After 8 years of profligate spending [I know the national debt doubled in the last 2 years of Dem control, they forget that part], how dare you vote against the stimulus package? Let me see, you rail [quite rightly] about past outrageous spending, but now it's OK to double or triple that amount because The One has been anointed? The logic escapes me; and, obviously, them.
The "bailout" explained pictorally.
Iowa trooper suspended for blasphemy.
And so it begins. An Iowa state trooper was suspended for forwarding an email showing perps' mug shots in which they were all wearing Obambi shirts.!!! On his own, from his own computer, at home. This is what he said:
In a statement, Hicok said, "I am deeply sorry for my actions … I apologize to anyone this e-mail may have offended, as well as my family, citizens in my community and Iowa taxpayers."
See that? The abject apology to someone, anyone who nay have been offended. Speak up, oh mighty offendee! Of course, this is PC stupidity run amok. He should have told them to take a hike, preferably with the full backing of his colleagues, and the endorsement of his union. I am sure the ACLU will step and help him-not.
Do not criticize The One. Read the sad tale here.

Chris Dodd has 100% disapproval rate...
...in our house, and it seems to me the good folks in Connecticut are coming around to our way of thinking. As he is up for re-election next year, it is important to send a strong message that his type of entitlement politics will not be tolerated. Interestingly, corruption was the downfall of his father also, so you think he would have learned his lesson. Oh, right maybe that is exactly where he learnt his lesson.
The point to remember here is quite simple. If he received preferential treatment in his mortgages, then that is a conflict of interest and he should resign. If, as he claims, he was not aware that he was receiving preferential treatment, then he is an ultra-maroon and should resign, and be pointed at, and laughed at publicly.
In the unsubstantiated rumor dept: I have heard scuttlebutt that he purchased a retirement home in Ireland, allegedly with Fannie Mae funds, which is a definite no-no, but I repeat that this is unsubstantiated. If you are a disgruntled former Countrywide employee with any info, now would be a good time to step forward. Believe me, it will make you feel gruntled again.

Poor widdle pookums in Gitmo.
It seems some Libtards are getting their panties in a bunch, because the denizens of Club Gitmo were not mirandized upon their arrest. Dear, oh dear! It's never too late to mirandize "em! Oh wait, I always confuse mirandize with vaporize...probably why I've never been on Star Trek.
Here's what Sarah Palin, Happy Birthday BTW, thinks of this and Obambi in general.
Here's what Sarah Palin, Happy Birthday BTW, thinks of this and Obambi in general.
Obambi's first miracle.
Well, the first if you exclude his election. Picture if you will; a random homeless person, living in her car, somehow finagles a front row seat at one of Obambi's revival meetings. She manages to catch his attention, and he promises to help. By the end of the meeting, with the press still miraculously in attendance, the wife of a local pol donates a spare house she had lying around. If only Barack had 5 loaves and 3 fishes he could have fed everyone, as well. read the whole thing over at Michelle Malkin.
I hope she doesn't have any hidden tax liens like Joe the Plumber.
I hope she doesn't have any hidden tax liens like Joe the Plumber.
Bipartisan buffoonery.
Arlen Specter [R-PA], one of the 3 rat Republicans, the others are Sens. Snowe and Collins, that voted for cloture on the bailout boondoggle, thus ending further discussion, has the temerity to say that he wanted more negotiation all along. When questioned on Fox News it becomes apparent that, of course, he had not read the bill and was surprised to see Euro style draconian health care provisions in it. He bemoans the fact that there was an unseemly rush to pass the bill, even though he led the charge and betrayed the Rethuglican party. What a weasel! My God, Pennsylvania, you gave us Specter and Murtha- what the heck did we ever do to you, except subsidise your nonsense I mean?
And just to show that stupidity is not restricted to one side of the aisle, the dems present their incompetent, Jon Tester [D-MT]. Fox likes to keep it "fair and balanced".
Read, and view, the whole thing over at Hot Air.

The campaign's over, Barry.
Last night, in the line of duty, I sat down and watched The One in his first press conference. I was less than impressed. The first thing that struck me was the difference between his performance on and off Teleprompter; it was stark and he needs to work on it.
The promise to create jobs has now been downgraded to "create or save" 4 million jobs. How are we supposed to police that benchmark. I suppose that so long as at least 4M Americans are working that's Mission Accomplished, huh Bambi?
Next, he still sounds like he is campaigning. Barry you got the job. Your constant references to, and pandering to, the folks in Elkhart, Indiana were bush league-no pun intended. The constant carping of how people can not afford, or get loans to buy, RVs is ridiculous. You are agonizing over luxury goods that most people will never be able to afford and often cost more than the average American home. You are, God save us, the leader of the free world. Start acting Presidential. What is with the interrogative "Okay" at the end of your long-winded, rambling and non-informative diatribes? Are you looking for approval from the ink stained wretches? You're the president, for heaven's sake! Oh, and Barry, there is only one bottom line. You mentioned several in one of your 1200 word answers. If you are going to use accounting terminology, please use it correctly.
I figured out a way to relieve this financial crisis, we can tax you by the pause and "uhs". The sad thing is that as you struggle to remember the talking points on which you have been schooled, you fill the dead air with non-sequitirs and campaign rhetoric. It is painful to watch as the little wheels in your brain slowly spin. You need to work on your "legendary' oratorical skills.
You claimed to be an "eternal optimist', yet you have used fear and intimidation to ram this so called stimulus bill down our throats. The Chicago Way for all to see.
Barack Hussein Obama-he's got nothing to say, and takes all day doing it.

President-in training throws Slow Joe under the bus.
As you may have gathered I am neither a fan of Obambi, nor of Vice-Himbo Biden, but am adamant in my respect for the office of President and Vice-President, poking fun at their names notwithstanding. However, at his first press conference today, Obambi threw Joe under the bus without hesitation. That he did it does not surprise me but it does not bode well for the future. Openly deriding the Veep will lead to a lack of respect for the office, both domestically and abroad. In the event of Obama being incapacitated, even if only temporarily, it will not be in the best interests of this country to be represented by someone who is openly lampooned by no less a person than the President. Classless. Read more here.
Also, I think Big Ears has got some stones to deride A-Rod as a cheat, when Tim Geithner, a renowned tax cheat, has just been confirmed as Secretary of State.

There is no added pork in the "stimulus" bill, it's nothing but pork.
From Sen. Tom Coburn's [R-OK] office we have a list of some of the dubious requests for funds from around the country. While some are probably a good idea, I am struggling to find any that would meet a true definition of emergency.
Wasteful and Non-Stimulative Spending in Nelson-Collins Substitute
• $2 billion earmark for FutureGen near zero emissions powerplant in Mattoon, IL • $39 billion slush fund for "state fiscal stabilization" bailout • $5.5 billion for making federal buildings "green" (including $448 million for DHS HQ) • $200 million for workplace safety in USDA facilities • $275 million for flood prevention • $65 million for watershed rehabilitation • $200 million for public computer centers at community colleges and libraries • $650 million for the DTV transition coupon program • $307 million for constructing NIST office buildings • $1 billion for administrative costs and construction of NOAA office buildings • $100 million for constructing U.S. Marshalls office buildings • $300 million for constructing FBI office buildings • $800 million for constructing Federal Prison System buildings and facilities • $10 million to fight Mexican gunrunners • $1.3 billion for NASA (including $450 million for "science" at NASA) • $100 million to clean up sites used in early U.S. atomic energy program • $10 million for urban canals • $2 billion for manufacturing advanced batteries for hybrid cars • $1.5 billion for carbon capture projects under sec. 703 of P.L. 110-140 (though section only authorizes $1 billion for five years) • $300 million for hybrid and electric cars for federal employees • $198 million to design and furnish the DHS headquarters • $255 million for "priority procurements" at Coast Guard (polar ice breaker) • $500 million for State and local fire stations • $180 million for construction of Bureau of Land Management facilities • $500 million for wildland fire management • $110 million for construction for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service • $522 million for construction for the Bureau of Indian Affairs • $650 million for abandoned mine sites • $75 million for the Smithsonian Institution • $1.2 billion for summer jobs for youth • $412 million for CDC headquarters • $500 million earmark for NIH facilities in Bethesda, MD • $160 million for "volunteers" at the Corp. for National and Community Service • $750 earmark for the National Computer Center in MD • $224 million for International Boundary and Water Commission – U.S. and Mexico • $850 million for Amtrak • $100 million for lead paint hazard reduction.
After perusing the list, and I am sure you will have your own favorites, two things jump out at me. $39B for "state fiscal stabilization" which seems to me to mean a bailout for states that have not been willing to maintain a balanced budget. Yes, California, I am talking to you. Notice how they even call it a "slush fund." Not so long ago that would have been a dirty word. Now, not so much. The second item is $10M [as in MILLIONS only] to fight Mexican gunrunners. Way to prioritize, guys. Good job.

Another reason to be grateful you are not English.
A top limey Foreign Office Middle East expert has been arrested after an anti- Semitic tirade whilst at the gym. I am not surprised by this coming, as it does, from a Euro-Weenie. However, I can't decide what is more despicable; his outburst, or the fact that he could face 7 years in jail because of it. Read more here.
More Euro-Lunacy, in case you missed it, I recently wrote of a woman in the UK who was banned from fostering any more children for religious reasons.

Dingy Harry strikes again.
That slimy little twerp Dingy Harry Reid , the dimwit from Searchlight, Nev., continues in his never-ending quest to accommodate illegal aliens, or as he calls them "undocumented Americans".
Today, he is hard at work trying to prevent the insertion of an E-verify requirement in the so-called "stimulus" bill that will drive us into the poor house. Let me see if I have this straight. We must buy American goods because it is patriotic; but making sure any new jobs created only go to Americans is not. If brains were dynamite he would barely be able to blow his nose. Read more here.
For those of you not paying attention, remember this. The stimulus package is a thinly disguised way of distributing graft to all the right/wrong people in 2011 and 2012 just ahead of the next election cycle.

Illegals sue Rancher
Put your coffee down before you read this story, or you might have to shell out for a new keyboard. A rancher in Arizona is being sued by 16 illegal immigrants who were trespassing on his land. The reason, you might ask? Their civil rights were violated! What in the name of sweet Jeebus is going on in this country? MALDEF [the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund] are behind this travesty as they work tirelessly for the dismantling of the sovereign borders of this nation. They are of course backed by the Mexican government, and often work in hand with the communists at the ACLU.
They are suing for $16M. What on earth have they lost that requires them to be recompensed by that outrageous sum? A figure that, even if they all lived to be 100, would be beyond the realm of their earning power, given that they are uneducated peasants. They were in this country illegally. They were on his property illegally. They had no right, or legal reason, to be in this country. This is how the end comes to a great nation. The constant law suits bog down the greatest, and fairest, legal system in the world. It cows the weak into submission. Let us hope that Roger Barnett prevails. Read the story here.
This is not the first time this has happened, courtesy of Debbie Schussel, read this real horror story here. If you think the SPLC [Southern Poverty Law Center] are good guys, think again.

This seems like a good idea.
Remember, it was only about a month ago, when dissent was patriotic?. Now, not so much. Must support The One. Here's a good idea regarding our new tax-cheat in chief.
Oops, I forgot-you can buy one here.
Oops, I forgot-you can buy one here.
Washington math.
Let me see if I have this right. The House sends a bill to the Senate that costs, and when I say costs I mean wastes, $820B. Those brainiacs in the Senate lard it up to over $900B, but then some Repubs "pare' it back down by $100B, claiming a conservative victory, and the bill ends up with a total of $827B. So, by their logic, a bill that ends up costing $7B more is a win for the good guys? And yet, some say it could cost as much as $1.1 Trillion. The truth is that none of those idiots have any idea whatsoever, so let's do it anyway and see what happens. What could possibly go wrong?
Don't forget that other math genius, San Fran Nan, the botox depository, who claimed that "500 million Amercans' a month were losing their jobs. You couldn't make this stuff up.

When multiculturalism goes mad.
The UK, and indeed much of Europe, has been hellbent on destroying itself over the last 30 years. All in the name of multiculturalism. This is what happens when a liberal society allows itself to be over-run, and in a misguided attempt at tolerance, does not encourage assimilation. Most of Europe has now passed the tipping point, where citizens are afraid to even voice their opinions, lest they be accused of being intolerant, or horror of horrors, racist. Read this tale of bureaucracy gone mad, as Winston Churchill slowly turns in his grave.
It makes an interesting comparison to the rapid decline of California due to unfettered illegal immigration, and foretells the direction we are headed, if open borders zealots get their way. You have been warned!

Politician breaks promise.
I know, I know, what a shocker! However, in this case the pol was Barack Obama. When campaigning he promised that we would be given a 5 day window to review any legislation before he signed it. He described it as "sunlight before signing". Yet another Obambi promise with an expiration date. This week he signed the dreadful SCHIP bill into law [it provides health care for "the childrens," some of whom are 25 years old and some of whom are illegal aliens, but I digress] just 3 hours after it was presented to him.
He also,
... signed the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act only two days after it received final passage last week, and it wasn’t posted on the White House website until after it became law.
Start as you mean to go on, I guess. The reason he has this amazing arrogance is that he knows he will receive very little flak from the adoring media. For now. The tide will turn and then it will get ugly. Don't forget to stock up on popcorn. Read more here.

The honeymoon is over.
It should really come as no surprise that Obambi's approval ratings should begin to drop. Especially as they were so stratospherically high to begin with. Over at Gateway Pundit, there is a round up of the very many reasons this is happening, that you may have missed. Please take careful note of the 25,000, or so, companies that face financial ruin due to being locked out from "stimulus" funds due to being non-union. Did you think the union support for Big Ears and his chums was free? What a silly goose!
Also, recognise that there are just as many experts saying that this ruinous bail-out plan might actually worsen our economic plight and that doing nothing, and letting the free market resolve it, may be better. Meanwhile, Obambi and his merry bunch of thieves are using fear tactics to force this bill through. What could go wrong?

If, at first, you don't succeed...
It seems that Fannie Mae thinks that a good way to get out of the economic doldrums would be to employ the very same tactics that got us into it in the first place. We are doomed.

The Obamessiah is gonna get crucified.
Obambi is making lots of promises and just as many enemies. The stimulus package is going to deal a fatal blow to an already sagging economy from which we may never recover. Still, at least Obambi will be paying off all those shills who worked tirelessly to get this cipher elected. And of course, when I say he "will be paying off', by that I mean "we", and for ever.

Senator proposing Fairness Doctrine is completely impartial.
And when I say "completely impartial", I mean Debbie Stabenow [D.MI] is yet another duplicitous, self-serving pol, whose husband just happens to be a senior executive with Air America. Who knew they were even around, still? Air America is [was] the left wing national radio network that died more times than Kenny on South Park. No axe to grind here, then.
When reading the story make sure to read the update at the end, where we learn that dear hubby, Tom Athans, was busted last year getting his freak on with a hooker at a hotel. Apparently, congressional approval is not the only thing going down...

Lyndsay Graham borrows a pair.
Blow me down, if you'll pardon the expression, I actually agree with Lindsay Graham on this. Even that useless stain McCain, his Lord and Master, seems to be on the right side of this issue. Sadly, though, it seems that Dingy Harry may have the 60 votes needed to pass The Generational Theft Act, so the cynic in me wonders if they are speaking out knowing it is a done deal, therefore just posturing on their part. It will be a dark day indeed if this "stimulus" package passes. Read more here.
Charlie Rangel is still not in Jail.
Whenever that fat thief Rangel shows up in the news, or in the blogs, I always leave the comment "Officer Cardillo had no comment." I then add a link to the story back in 1972 when the officer was slain and the despicable Rangel's part in his death, in cahoots with Louie Farrakhan. Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the whole story, here, and make sure you tell your friends.
Congress is full of people like Rangel who are corrupt and rotten to the core. The fact that he is the Chairman of the Ways and Means Comm. and is "respected" by his colleagues [feared would be more accurate] speaks volumes to how low the level of integrity has sunk in politics.
Please read this story, over at JammiewearingFool which shows how he has been ripping of this nation with impunity for 35 years, and continues to do so.
Then say a prayer for Officer Cardillo.

Robert Gibbs underwhelms.
Freshly minted White House Press Secretary Gibbs shows, yet again, how massively unsuited to this job he really is. We are in the third week of this administration and already he looks worn out and weak. Smart money says he won't see March in his current capacity. Why, he's almost as bad as Obambi sans Teleprompter.

The L.A. Times continued descent into irrelevance.
The always excellent Patterico dissects the latest agenda, instead of fact, driven piece from the L.A. Times. The MSM, including the New York Times, have seen catastrophic drops in readership and share value over the last year. When you read this latest piece of drivel it is easy to see why. They are no longer objective. In my home state of Arizona we see the same pap on an almost daily basis from the Arizona Republic. Their agenda driven "reporting" dooms them to distinction, yet they continue along this path, pandering to the illegal alien community, despite the fact that 70-80% of Americans are against it. Their stupidity is stunning.
Read more here.
As usual, what the Times fails to acknowledge is that by their very presence they have broken the law. By the act of working they are breaking the law. In many cases they are using fake SSNs, which causes the real owner of the Soc. Sec # number all manner of grief. I can tell you that, here in Phoenix, illegals can, and do, buy a 3-pack of Green Card, Driver's Licence and S.S card for around $100. So they may not have a criminal record, but that is more an indictment of our unwillingness, or lack of manpower, to prosecute these criminals.
UPDATE:
It seems, after further investigation, that the LA Times was more dishonest than we originally thought. Read here.

Let's lighten up a smidge.
The last post, strangely enough, caused this little clip to pop into my head, for obvious reasons. Enjoy!
Once Again Dodd Thumbs his Nose at us.
Showing again that his shamelessness knows no bounds, Dodd invited local reporters to his office in Connecticut, no Washington scribes were invited, and inundated those assembled with 100 pages of supposed mortgage relate literature-yet allowed no one to copy or take away the documents. What a snow job. Read more here.
Also, lest you have forgotten, let's take a trip back in the time machine. To a time when another fat Dem, this time an actual murderer, and Dodd performed their famous sandwich act on a poor unsuspecting waitress. Demonstrating Dodd's true character and fat Teddy's never-ending disrespect for women. Read all about it here.

Botoxed Bozo Blows it.
Nancy Pelosi, the clueless "drainer of the swamp", truly is the gift that keeps on giving. Yeah, yeah, I know what she meant to say. But, imagine if that numpty McCain, RINO that he may be, had said it? All sorts of accusations of senility. So far, this year has been more fun than a barrel of monkeys, political entertainment-wise. I may run out of popcorn. Watch it here.

The Dark Nit has a Snit
At first, I wasn't going to post on Christian Bale's widely publicised hissy fit. After all, celebutards are always throwing their toys out of the pram. However, some smart young 'uns took the profanity-laced audio and added some music in the style that the kids, apparently, call "techno". Who knew?
It is absolute genius, and they even manage to throw Babs into the mix as well. Very well done!
Here it is, featured at Big Hollywood. As usual, check out the comments.

Gore bores boors who make laws...
The tone of this piece from The Washington Post is priceless. Poor old Fat Al, seems like he will soon be relegated to well-earned obscurity. There is a new Messiah in town, and while Obambi finds it expedient to go along with the climate change panty-waists; watch how quick he jumps ship when the tide begins to turn. [Lots of nautical phrases, just like Obambi used in the book that Bill Ayers didn't write for him].

A Clean break, my...
Obambi campaigned on a promise of " a clean break from business as usual". As we have come to expect, The One's promises all come with an expiration date. The Times of India, undertaking the journalism the American press won't do, publishes an article counting 17 examples of these "clean breaks".
Ed Morrissey over at Hot Air has that story and more.
Poor little Tommy Daschle...cast out from the in-crowd and forced back into a life of 7 figure salaries sucking the lifeblood out of America. Oh, the inhumanity...

Score one for the good guys
Just as I was about to publish a scathing, hard hitting and staggeringly brilliant post about Obambi's nominees and their inability to pay their taxes, the rug was pulled out from under me. Tom Daschle has announced his withdrawal from contention. Good riddance to bad rubbish, say I! Read more here.
Notice how Dems always "bungle", "make mistakes", "misspeak" and "overlook" things. Never, ever is a crime committed. They always resign for the greater good, as they don't want to be a "distraction". Here's a video of a young Tom, from the way back machine, back when he was all squeaky clean, before he fell into the cesspool of DC. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad.
Some more "mis-steps" here.

Talentless Hack Jumps Ship.
Sensing the shifting sands of black oppression by "Whitey" now that Obambi's election has made a mockery of supposed black suppression, drab and dreary alleged comedienne Wanda Sykes switches teams. Now that she has neatly segued into lesbianism, her future as a "minority victim" is assured. Read more, and check out the comments, over at Big Hollywood.
Note the admiration of Obambi despite his opposition to her supposed rights. Rights that she has never championed, nor in fact, ever mentioned heretofore, due to her cowardly closeted existence, thus far.
Agonisingly, on the one hand she hates Bush, yet on the other...

My God, Dodd that's Odd!
Over at Michelle Malkin we have an update on Chris Dodd's shenanigans. I say again, these people have got stones. They are audacious because they know that a fawning media will not bother asking them pesky questions.
Standard Dem. Operating Procedure: Lie, deny, defy, re-apply, stupefy, my oh my!

Chris Dodd thinks we are as stupid as the folks who re-elected him
In a stunning display of chutzpah, Dodd, along with the stealth-shield (D-Conn) attachment, pretends that by merely re-financing his loans (which by happenstance will likely be at a lower rate, anyway) the question of his lack of ethics will simply go away. These people have absolutely no shame. Hey, Dodd, I was born at night, but it wasn't last night!

Gateway Pundit: Team Obama Is Chasing Down Clinton's Corruption Records
In the first 2 weeks of Obambi's administration, and even before his inauguration for that matter, the level of taint, law-breaking, incompetence and general stank surrounding his various cabinet choices has been stunning. However, the outrage-meter of the media has barely registered. As previously mentioned, the magic "D" after your name is kryptonite to controversy. It seems team Obambi is a piker compared to the Clinton administration, but they are gaining ground fast.

Tom Daschle, another dodgy nominee.
Isn't it amazing? As usual, if you have a "D" after your name, any improprieties are simply acknowledged as mistakes. Could have happened to anyone. Unless, of course, you have an "R" after your name.
It's the same every time. Admit the "error" or "oversight", pay the back-taxes or fees and hey, presto-problem solved. Unfortunately, this only ever occurs after they have been caught, never before.
Does Obambi know any honest people. I mean, holy crap, we are only in week 2 of his administration. Ann Althouse has more.

Well Played Senator.
Obambi and Dingy Harry Reid seem to have been headed off at the pass. Their clumsy, and transparent, attempt to gain the 60 senate seats they desire by appointing a sitting Republican Senator to a cabinet position may have been thwarted.
Ed Morrissey has more over at Hot Air
If it turns out to be true, Sen. Judd Gregg [R-N.H] is to be applauded.
